Board

In 2008 a skills based Board was implemented consisting of four Board Members and one Chairperson.

Mr. Antony (Tony) MacCormick – Chairman

Tony has a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Hons) and a Diploma in Business. With extensive experience in the wastewater and environmental industry as well as the cement, chemical and metals industries.
Tony has a strong background as a Company Director and Chairman as well as having been Chief Executive at national level and possessing outstanding engineering and business experience. Tony currently holds the position of Director of Cradle Mountain Water.

Mr. Grant Atkins – Director

Grant has had a career in local government spanning over 42 years, with 36 years of that period having been employed with the Kentish and Latrobe Councils in the executive positions of Council Clerk under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1962 or as General Manager under the Local Government Act 1993.
Grant has had a long history of involvement with the Dulverton Regional Waste Management Authority being a member of the initial working group representing the four member councils that established the Authority. He has also served as an Owners Representative on the Authority and assisted in drafting the current rules for the Authority. Grant also served in the positions of Owners Representative with the Cradle Coast Authority and Cradle Coast Water Authority. He is currently a Director on the Tasmanian Water and Sewerage Corporation (North West) and Chairman of the Sports Carnivals Association of Tasmania as well as being a Justice of the Peace.

Mr. Phil Baker – Director

Phil Baker has nearly 25 years experience and has worked in 15 countries in the environment and waste management industry. Phil is recognised as a specialist in the environmental field, particularly in strategic management of the environment and in a broad range of environmental studies including environmental impacts and sustainability. Phil's experience extends to the identification of emerging environment trends and demands, recognition of industry priorities and the development of strategies to secure sustainable environmental outcomes.
Phil provides high level inputs to: corporate policy development and implementation, environmental impact assessment, environmental accounting, stakeholder and community consultation, landfill design and management, facility auditing, site assessment, rehabilitation and closure, environmental risk management, water management, hazardous, solid and liquid waste management, groundwater resources and impact, statutory approval, air emissions, climate change and energy management.

Mr. Jeff McNamara – Director

Jeff worked in the local government sector in Tasmania and New South Wales for over 28 years. He has extensive experience as both practitioner and at senior management level, including roles in environmental health, environmental management, pollution control and environment protection, building control, land use planning, human resource management, industrial relations, corporate governance, education and training, strategic planning, risk management, financial management, and community planning.
His interest in life-long learning has led him to embark on a new career in corporate governance and the tertiary education sector with the University of Tasmania.
